SYNPLICITY OPENS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN FRANCE

New Design Facility Highlights Company's Continuing European Expansion


SUNNYVALE, Calif., November 21, 2000 - Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors for Internet infrastructure, today announced it has opened a research and development facility in France. This new center will develop logic synthesis, physical synthesis and verification technology for Synplicity's worldwide customer base.

"As Synplicity grows rapidly, we find it necessary to establish international development teams," said Bob Erickson, vice president of engineering at Synplicity. "Our intent is to make it easier for talented European engineers to work for us by having a development center in France. We will also be able to provide more timely support and maintain closer contact with our European customers," added Erickson.

This research and development center will be located in Montpellier, France. "We believe that Montpellier provides an attractive high-tech environment for an abundance of skilled European engineers," said Erickson. This office will be directed by Jerome Rampon, site manager. "I am excited to be managing this new facility, and I look forward to helping extend Synplicity's reputation for product excellence and innovation," said Rampon.

Synplicity has offices in several European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany and France. Synplicity has also expanded support for European customers with the addition of a corporate application engineer co-located in the Munich, Germany, office. The company also has offices in India, Israel and Japan.
